A smart boardroom is a fully integrated meeting space where technology enables seamless collaboration for in-room and remote participants. It typically includes: a large interactive display or video conferencing screen, a video conferencing system (camera, microphone, codec), wireless presentation device (so anyone can share their screen without cables), room booking display outside the door, AV control system (to manage all devices from one touch panel), and acoustic treatment for clear audio. Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms-certified setups are the most common enterprise standard today.

A normal TV (even a commercial display) is a passive viewing screen — you can display content but cannot interact with it. An interactive flat panel (IFP) is a large touchscreen display that supports writing, annotation, whiteboarding, object movement, and multi-touch gestures directly on the screen. IFPs typically run Android or Windows OS, have built-in apps for collaboration, can run video conferencing software natively, support wireless screen sharing from multiple devices simultaneously, and are designed for 24×7 commercial use with higher brightness (350–450 nits).

Projectors require a dark room, have limited brightness (2000–5000 lumens for conference use), and need regular lamp replacement. LED video walls are self-luminous, extremely bright (800–1500 nits), visible even in daylight, have no moving parts, and last 100,000+ hours. LED video walls provide seamless, large-scale, vivid displays ideal for command centers, auditoriums, and corporate lobbies. However, LED walls cost significantly more than projectors. For boardrooms and training rooms with controlled lighting, high-quality commercial displays (75"–98") are the practical middle ground.

Fine-pitch LED refers to LED displays with pixel pitch below 2.5mm (P1.5, P1.8, P2.0, P2.5). The smaller the pitch, the higher the resolution at close viewing distances. For a 10–15 person boardroom, a dedicated video conferencing room system is recommended rather than a laptop-based setup. Digital signage is a network of displays managed centrally to show dynamic, scheduled content — promotions, announcements, wayfinding, news feeds, social media, or corporate communications. Unlike a regular TV, digital signage uses commercial-grade displays (designed for 16–24 hour operation), a content management system (CMS) to schedule and push content remotely, and can update hundreds of screens simultaneously from one dashboard. A Public Address (PA) system broadcasts audio announcements to large areas — multiple floors, zones or an entire building — simultaneously. It consists of amplifiers, speakers (ceiling, wall, outdoor, horn), and a microphone or digital announcement system. Essential for: factories (shift change, emergency alerts), hospitals (code blue, PA pages), airports and railway stations, schools (bell systems, announcements), hotels (evacuation alerts, background music), and large corporate campuses. Modern IP-based PA systems integrate with fire alarm systems for automated emergency announcements and can be controlled zone-by-zone from any PC on the network.
